May Workshop – Phillip Moses: Writing on Another Culture

We will discuss, confront and overcome, through writing exercises, the difficulties of representing other cultures in your story and character.
- Explore Australia’s story without Indigenous story – and the journey to include it in our Australian discourse.
- What are the advantages of representing another culture and the issues that need to be considered?
- Case study of Clancy’s Hat, where the culture is Ngunawal.
Phillip Moses’ novels have been studied by students in NSW high schools and University. His latest novel “Clancy’s Hat” is on a recommended reading list by Reconciliation Australia and has been distributed in a National Youth Program. Based in Canberra, Phillip is a frequent public speaker and lecturer.
