R U A POET?
You should come along to an arvo of poems this weekend – Saturday June 3.
If you’re sitting there at home, and you’re trying to write a poem,
And you just can’t figure out that final rhyme;
You’re fighting indigestion and you want a good suggestion
To settle both your stomach and your mind;
You need mind and body comfort, a kind of verbal passport
That’ll get the flipping poem into line.
Come to the Rusty Plough and someone’ll show you how
To make a poem rhyme or nearly so.
Cos the Eden poets are meeting and all-comers they’ll be greeting
Around a pie and coffee, Saturday arvo;
If you’re a reader or a writer, a lover or a liker,
There’ll be serious stuff and funny stuff as well,
And if you find you don’t much like it, you can stand up and hike it
While telling the poets to go somewhere else!
If you’re not feeling sick there’ll even be music,
So come on to the Plough – right here and now
Write it in your diary – come and try it!
An informal poet’s brunch at the Rusty Plough, 1pm Saturday June 3 – all welcome, whether you want to read or just listen – see ya there!
